Singita South Africa

Singita Private Game Reserve, the most elegant destination in South Africa, is situated in and around the Kruger National Park. Singita has supreme wildlife and safari experiences. A stay at Singita is about many things; remarkable design, innovative food and wine and all combined with exceptional hospitality.

Singita Sweni is the most recent addition to Singita Lebombo, the second most recent addition to the Singita family. As these photographs testify, a safari here borders on perfection.

How did Singita come to be? In 1925, James Fawcett Bailes acquired Castleton and Ravenscourt, two farms in the area between the Sabi and Sand Rivers as a Private Game Reserve. The Sabi Sand region was a remote corner of the pristine lowveld and a three-day intense drive away from the coast.

It was only in 1994, when Apartheid was abolished and South Africa opened its doors to the rest of the world that the Bailes family decided that the time had come to open Singita, their piece of South Africa, to those who dared to venture into this “dark” and mysterious place.

" I believe there is no sickness of the heart too great it cannot be cured by a dose of Africa. Families must go there to learn why they belong together on this earth, adolescents to discover humility, lovers to plumb old but untried wells of passion, honeymooners to seal marriages with a shared sense of bafflement, those shopworn with life to find a tonic for futility, the aged to recognize a symmetry to twilight."
